French Brocantes and My Finds

The summer holidays seem a distant memory but the excitement of travelling to a plethora of French Brocantes in August still remains.

Every summer I make the trip across to Cherbourg from Poole and then onwards to Bordeaux to stay in my Mum’s house in the Charentes.

On route, I pick up a copy of Antiquites Brocantes and start to plan a week of sourcing and mooching at the village car boot sales, fetes and larger flea markets. This year was a bumper year for finds and I managed to visit two vide greniers, two brocantes and one fete.

I picked up a huge 1970’s lamp for our lounge with a black ceramic base. I just need to find a new lampshade for it. I also picked up lots of yummy fabric which I’ve started to pop up in my web shop. I found a beautiful quilted bedspread for our spare room, and of course, the kiddiess found a couple of minions, a lightning mcqueen and a farm yard set!
