When I first started my company in 2008 I came up with a generic name for it – Something Fine. To be honest, I never really liked that name, but with a name like that, I thought it could be anything. At the time, I really wasn’t sure where my little business was heading; I was mostly selling vintage fabric and still on the learning curve where upholstery was concerned. Back then I was living in London with a baby on the way and a precious black puggy called Pops. I still had a 9-5 and my workspace was a tiny piece of our kitchen where I just about had enough room to upholster a teeny chair.
This was our little puggy, Pops.
This is my original website. I was SO proud of it at the time.
This is my piece of the kitchen I had to upholster and sell fabric from in London. Look how neat my cupboard was!!
These days I am much more sure of what I have become and what I do (er…I think?!). It’s taken me all this time to really be clear on that aspect. I am an Upholstery School, I provide upholstery courses for upholstery beginners and give people upholstery skills to try their new projects at home. I am an Upholstery Teacher and I work out of a little grey cladded converted garage – The Upholstery Cabin.
Introducing my new name and new logo.
