Vicky’s journey into the world of upholstery began as a child, tinkering with her mother’s sewing machine and crafting various household items. In her early twenties, after pursuing an academic career post-A levels, Vicky found herself at a crossroads after being let go from a job she disliked. Seeking guidance from a career coach led her to discover her passion for upholstery, and she hasn’t looked back.
At the age of 26 yrs, and living in London, Vicky started learning upholstery herself through an evening class which eventually lead to a City and Guilds qualification in London. In 2009, after qualifing with a diploma, Vicky set up her first business called ‘Something Fine’ and established herself as an upholsterer. Her first comissions were for her Mum, but she soon built the confidence to take on chairs from strangers and started to build her skills. Over the years Vicky has worked 0n contract commissions for hotels and domestic armchairs for homes, but her heart lies in teaching. Over the past 11 years, Vicky has been sharing her expertise from her garage-turned-studio, which recently expanded to a larger space in Ringwood, Hampshire.

Vicky welcomes commissions and takes on sofas, armchairs, box cushions and anything else you have tucked away awaiting a transformation. Vicky is a member of The Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers.
Vicky wrote her first book, The Beginners Guide to Upholstery published by David and Charles in 2015 and continues to write, having self-published two books in a new flip book series called “Teach Me Upholstery”.
